Heaven Skate Park is built at street-level on top of a section of Interstate 84 on the edge of downtown Hartford, Connecticut. It’s a city park that was adopted by a group of skateboarders and grafitti artists who formed a nonprofit to build a formal skate park and make it a legal grafitti zone. Heaven is now a site for grassroots arts, recreation and culture. On September 2, 2017, the people of Heaven gathered for a day of “Character Assassins,” where grafitti artists were invited to throw up new works depicting characters, b-boys and MCs performed in both informal cyphers and straight up performances, and skateboarders and bmx bikers did their thing.
Here’s a little feel of a day in Heaven.
